We had a wonderful time!

A nice place when you want to detach from city life and unwind. It’s far from populated areas.

Lorraine’s place is neat as a pin and has so many well thought through detailed touches. It is cosy and comfortable and the perfect location for a romantic getaway. Watching the stars in the night sky from the viewing deck was an absolute highlight.

Very quite and peaceful environment. It is further than originally thought to good hiking areas. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Beautiful gardens and space make this a lovely escape from the city. The massages available are wonderful! Great fireplace in the Winter. Make sure to find the observation deck, very beautiful for sunrise/sunsets. Lovely braai and firepit area. There are a few dogs who love to visit your room, eagerly await a morsel off the braai and sleep on the stoep so need to be a dog lover to stay here. Quick escape, only 1 hour from JHB.

What an awesome stay! From the tranquil views to the amazing space. This is the perfect spot to recharge and relax. Joe and Lorraine were accommodating to all my needs and their staff is so friendly. I loved the 2hr massage with Miriam, best massage in a very long time. I must place to stay in. Walk the grounds and sit by the deck. You won’t regret it!

Thank you Lorraine and Joe. The communication and extra effort to ensure our arrival was as easy as possible was highly appreciated. You have a lovely lodge and each chalet has everything needed for a complete stay. My only regret was not staying longer to take advantage of all to offer (walks, massages, movie night). Your dogs make a nice home away from home touch

Woodland gardens is a nice secluded property just off the road with clean, homely, wooden Cottages with basic amenities. Perfect if you really want to be left alone. We really loved all the dogs running around as we are animal people but that might not be to your liking. We prepared meals easily in the kitchenette and didn't find any utensil wanting. The ladies who came to clean everyday (the dishes too!) were ever so friendly and helpful.
Access to the surrounding field for about a 6km run was appreciated.
What I liked: met personally at the parking by Joe who showed us around briefly, gave us all the information we needed and took us to our cottage.
What I didn't like: the property is right next to the road and train line so it was noisier than I had expected (maybe I have sensitive hearing). Keep that in mind if you want perfect silence for your getaway.

It is a beautiful setting with fabulous hosts! We enjoyed a peaceful experience which felt very luxurious!
